Whats the best way to handle this im so hurt?

can i please get some advice.ive recently discovered a close friend who said he regarded me as a sister has been playing me along and using me for money etc. im so hurt. hes also told a series of lies and i had enough so i basically put everything in an email and sent it to him. i was telling one of my girl friends and she said it was a bad idea as i still work with him he might use it against me. im just so hurt i valued him enormously did i do wrong. i doubt he would do that to me but now hes just totally avoiding me i feel such a fool what should i do and why didnt he value me ?
